ISAIAH’S FOUR NAMES – THE MIGHTY GOD!

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 9:1-7 

INTRO:  In Bethlehem’s stable you will find God.  It is not just any god in the manger, but the Mighty God!

I.  TRUE CHRISTIANITY AFFIRMS AND BELIEVES IN THE FACT THAT GOD

     IS A PERSONAL GOD.

   A. God manifested Himself in the Scriptures for our benefit. Hebrews

       11:1-2

   B. But there was never a full manifestation of God in the Old Testament.

II. TRUE CHRISTIANITY AFFIRMS THE FACT THAT MANY TIMES GOD WAS

     REVEALED IN THE OLD TESTAMENT AS THE PRE-INCARNATE CHRIST.

   A. In Eden the blood that was shed was a preview of Calvary.

   B. The ark of Noah was a place of safety.

   C. The ram caught in a bush was a type of Jesus.

   D. The burning bush that Moses saw points to Deliverance by Christ.

   E. The Passover Lamb was a type of Christ.

   F. The Pillar of cloud and fire was the presence of God.

   G. There are many other examples in the Old Testament.

III. BUT ALL THE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE MIGHTY GOD THAT ARE

      GIVEN WILL NEVER MATCH THE REVELATION OF GOD THAT CAME IN

      THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

    A.  Look beyond the 4000 years from Adam to Mary and you will never

         find one to compare with Christ.  John 1:14

    B. Christ is the revelation of God Himself.  John 14:9

    C. For several centuries after Christ there was an ongoing debate.  See

        I Timothy 3:16 for a summary of His life.
