THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

 IN THANKSGIVING AND   CHRISTMAS  

 

SCRIPTURE READING:  I JOHN 1:5-10

 

INTRO:  Paul tells us in I Corinthians 10:13 that God is faithful.

A. God’s nickname should be in all reverence “Old Faithful”.

B. Let’s notice the faithfulness of God in relation to Thanksgiving and the

    coming of the Savior.

 

I. GOD IS FAITHFUL IN HIS COVENANTS AND MERCY.  Deuteronomy 7:9

   A. When God makes a covenant you can count on it.

   B. God’s covenant is completed when we do our part.

   C. The Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are times for us to

       remember the covenants and the mercies of God.

 

II. GOD IS FAITHFUL IN HIS PROMISES.  I Kings 8:56

   A. God’s promises are sure.

   B. We have failed in our promises to Him.

 

III. GOD IS FAITHFUL IN ALL GENERATIONS.  Psalm 119:90

   A. He is faithful in many things.

   B. Our faithfulness depends on many things.

 

IV. GOD IS THE FAITHFUL GIVER OF ETERNAL LIFE 2 Thessalonians 3:3

   A. God promised eternal life to those who believe.

   B. God has prepared a place in Heaven so that we might be there.

 

V. GOD IS FAITHFUL TO HIS CHILDREN.  I Corinthians 1:9

   A. God called us into fellowship with His Son.

   B. Are we faithful to the family of God?

 

VI. GOD IS FAITHFUL IN FORGIVING SINS.  I John 1:9

   A. Can we forgive and forget?

   B. God forgives and remembers no more.
