ISAIAH’S FOUR NAMES – WONDERFUL COUNSELOR!

 

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 9:1-7 

 

INTRO:  We begin spiritual preparations for the celebration of the coming of Christ.

 

I.  THE MESSAGE OF ISAIAH WAS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE.

   A. Some call Isaiah the “Gospel of the Old Testament.”

   B. Isaiah’s message came at a critical time in the history of the O.T.

 

II. THE COMING ONE IS TO BE THE WONDERFUL COUNSELOR.

   A. There are many wonderful names of a wonderful person (Jesus).

   B. This wonderful Jesus had a wonderful conception and birth.

   C. The Ministry of Jesus was a wonderful ministry.

   D. Here was a man with wonderful love.

   E. Here was a man who was a wonderful teacher.

   F. He was wonderful in His suffering, His death, His resurrection, and

       His ascension.

 

III. BUT ISAIAH SAID HE WOULD BE A WONDERFUL COUNSELOR!

   A. Counselor is the name given to one who gives good advice.

   B. He was wonderful in the aspect that He and the Father counseled

        together to bring about the plan of salvation.

   C. Jesus would give the counsel of the Lord Himself.

   D. Jesus is a “wonderful counselor” to us today.
