Ten Unchangeable Features of Children and Youth

 
  SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 139:7-18INTRO:  If you had the power to change anything about you would you use it?  There are a number of “unchangeable” things in our lives.

I. PSALM 139 is a great chapter for us.  We are reminded:

   A. We cannot escape the presence of God. Psalm 139:7-12

   B. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:13-16

   C. We are who we are because God made us.

II. HERE ARE TEN UNCHANGEABLE THINGS ABOUT US:

   A. My parents

   B. My time in history

   C. My racial background

   D. My national heritage

   E. My gender

   F. My birth order

   G. My brothers and sisters

   H. My physical features

   I. My mental abilities

   J. My aging and death

III. DID YOU KNOW?

   A. One of the major causes of inferiority complexes in  children is in comparing the unchangeable features.

   B. The attractiveness of your face is determined by the   attitudes of the heart.

   C. Self-acceptance is the basis for glorifying God and  being conformed to the image of Christ.

   D. No matter how old you get, “He’s still working on us!”
