Confession- The Forerunner of Blessings

 SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 18:9-14

INTRO:  One of the great principles in the plan of salvation is the fact that we have to make a confession of Jesus Christ.  When the confession is made then God will pour out His blessings.

I. ABRAHAM CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED.  Genesis 18:27

   A. Abraham confessed “I am dust and ashes.”  

   B. Abraham got what he asked for.  Genesis 18:28-33

II. ISAIAH CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED.  Isaiah 6:5

   A. The great prophet Isaiah confessed “I am unclean.” 

   B. With the confession from his lips, God caused a special  blessing to fall upon Isaiah.

III. JOB CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED Job 40:4

   A. After God had questioned Job with 74 questions, Job  made his confession.

   B. Note the blessing that Job got just after this.  Job 42:10-17

IV. DAVID CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED.  Psalm 51:5; Psalm 32:1

   A. David admitted to his great sins of lust and adultery  2 Samuel 11-12

   B. David prayed for forgiveness and was blessed with it.  Psalm 51

V. PETER CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED Luke 5:8; Matthew 16:19

   A. Simon Peter was one of the first disciples called.

   B. Look at the blessing that Peter eventually got.

VI. THE PUBLICAN CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED.  Luke 18:13

   A. The publican confessed that he was a sinner.

   B. Note the blessing that this man got from God.

VII. THE PRODIGAL CONFESSED AND WAS BLESSED.  Luke 15:21

   A. In another parable of Jesus He tells us about two boys and their father.

   B. The blessings of the father were poured out on the  prodigal son as he was feasted.
