SERMON OUTLINE: WALKING WITH GOD
March 7th, 2007 by jlmilesINTRO: It is important that we have the right living to go with the right doctrines. There is much in Scripture about how we are to walk daily with the Lord.
I. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY IN THE
LIGHT.
Eph. 5:8;
I John 1:7
A. When we accept Christ we start walking in the Light.
B. Paul commands that we “walk as children of light.”
C. John brings it out even clearer for us in vs.
Eph. 5-7.
II. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY IN LOVE. Eph. 5:2
A. Our upright walk must be in love or it will be
ineffective.
B. Note the two examples we have to follow.
III. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY IN WISDOM. Colossians 4:5
A. “Conduct yourself with wisdom!”
B. Paul notes particularly having “wisdom toward
outsiders.”
IV. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY IN THE SPIRIT.Galatians 5:16
A. Our “Walk in the Spirit” is of utmost importance.
B. When we walk by the Spirit we focus on things besides
ourselves.
V. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE. Romans 6:4
A. Paul points out that those baptized are to walk in
“newness of life.”
B. Walking in newness of life means that our daily walk
needs to be different from the world.
VI. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY WITH HONESTY. Romans 13:13 (KJV)
A. The concept given here has to do with our daily
Christian life.
B. Note the things that are not to be a part of our
upright walk.
VII. THE CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO WALK UPRIGHTLY AS ONE WORTHY OF HIS VOCATION. Eph. 4:1, Eph. 5:15-16
A. What is your vocation?
B. Paul notes the importance of our vocation as a
Christian.
