Truth is Permanent
Josh McDowell has said, “The Bible makes it clear that all values, beliefs, lifestyles, and truth claims are not equal. It teaches that the God of the Bible is the true God (Jeremiah 10:10), that all his word’s are true (Psalm 119:160), and that if something is not right in God’s sight, it is wrong (Deuteronomy 6:18). This is not just the view of Hebrew culture or Christian culture or Western culture; it is the truth, according to the God who rules over all cultures, revealed in God’s word”.
Gene Edward Veith, Jr. states, “The only things we can know about God or other spiritual realities are what He chooses to tell us. We are utterly dependent upon God’s Word.”
Bob Russell, said about the truth of the Bible, “Certain transcendent truths are absolutely the inspiration of Scripture, the historical creation of man, the deity of Jesus Christ, the plan of Salvation…. These have been given by God as unchanging truths, and they should not be compromised.”
Proverbs 23:23 states, “Buy the truth, and do not sell it,…”
With these thoughts a clear picture can be made of the foundation which the Bible gives for all people. It is truth and we need to do everything we can to get a hold of it and live by it. The reason there is such a high value to the truth of the Bible is that the truths that it contains are true regardless of culture, philosophy of man, time, who is in power in our nation, language or other barriers people may try to place between God and man. When understanding that the Bible is true and that it reveals absolute truth for modern people, one can come to the Bible and ask the questions that plague us today. Such as how do we help the poor and hungry? How do we stop the spread of AIDS? How is a family supposed to function? Where did we come from? And where are we going? As one asks these and other questions, the problem will not be in knowing what it says but in obeying and acknowledging its authority, mainly when it gives answers to questions that may conflict with culture or mankind’s will.
Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). From the days of Creation to the present God’s words have been true. Will you build your life upon the truth of the Bible?
